Curator/Fort Lauderdale Global Luxury Event Tonight

Maitland-Smith is pleased to be a sponsor in the Curator/Fort Lauderdale Global Luxury Event held tonight and tomorrow night at the Sheltair Aviation Center in Fort Lauderdale. 

Held during the week of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, this invitation-only event will showcase the finest in luxury automobiles, yacht charter services, private aviation, timepieces and exquisite jewelry, travel and real estate, art and antiques, wellness and beauty and more.  Part of the "and more" will be the display of one of our beautiful, artisan crafted pool tables with our shuffleboard and foosball tables and free standing cue rack.   Other sponsors include Ferrari, Fraser Yachts, Airbus Corporate Jets, just to name a few. 

The pool table has a mahogany finish with black leather inlay and mother of pearl and brass accents.  The playing surface is Burgundy Simonis cloth and the feet have adjustable brass levelers.  The cue rack is crotch mahogany with black leather inlay and includes slots for holding both 9 and 8 ball racks. 

Whimsy defines the foosball table as players are monkeys and lions.  The case has amazing detail and is finished with a combination of Napoleon Brown and Antique Aubergine.
The shuffleboard table definitely stands alone with its beautiful exterior with Aged Regency finish. The solid North American maple playing surface is made by McClure shuffleboards, and the table has climate adjusters which keep the playing surface true. 

The Curator event takes place in an airline hangar and should be loads of fun.  Curator calls it "A 360 degree interactive experience featuring the most exquisite and unique items available globally.  FLY IT.  WEAR IT. DRIVE IT. CRUISE IT. LIVE IT."

Exciting News - Collaboration with Celerie Kemble Announced

Maitland-Smith is pleased to announce that Celerie Kemble, noted interior designer and author, is designing a group of lighting and accessories for Maitland-Smith to complement the new group of casegoods and upholstery she is designing for our sister company, Henredon. The pieces are being finalized now, and the exciting new collections will debut at the April 2013 market. 

Celerie, in case you didn't know, is a principal of Kemble Interiors based in Palm Beach, Florida, and New York City.  Interior Design is in her genes as her mother, Mimi Maddock McMakin, began Kemble Interiors in Palm Beach in 1982, so Celerie grew up surrounded by beautiful furnishings, fabrics and color. She is a partner with her mother in the New York office of Kemble Interiors. 

For 15 years Celerie has compiled a much publicized portfolio of residential and commercial interiors that are as diverse as her clientel.  She has been featured in countless publications and even appeared on the Martha Stewart Black and White show in March, discussing decorating with black and white, the subject of her latest book, Black and White (and a bit in between), published by Clarkson Potter.
